Dean Moull gets in touch: “Now just need to get Benfica, Barcelona and Bayern (in final) and order will be restored.”
What that means for Chelsea is that they will face one of Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle, Monaco or Qarabag in the last 16.
Kari Tulinius gets in touch: “My explanation for why Conte’s teams do so badly in continental competitions is that he pissed off the goddess Europa. There can be no earthly reason for why it always goes wrong for him. I believe her sacred sites were in Crete, so he needs to book a plane to Heraklios and find a bull to sacrifice.”
Chelsea are one of five English clubs in the top eight. Only Newcastle miss out.
The final table, after huge drama in Lisbon.
Full-time: Napoli 2-3 Chelsea
A huge win for Chelsea, another good win for Liam Rosenior. Joao Pedro was the man, two beautiful strikes that take them through to the knockouts without any need for the extra knockout round. Napoli, meanwhile, are OUT. Another Antonio Conte flop in this competition.
90+4 min: Big save from Sanchez after Vergara and Di Lorenzo set up Lukaku, whose shot is fierce and had to be saved. Still. the keeper did his job, and has kept his team in the top eight.
90+3 min: Conte is in rage mode, a defeated man as he urges his team to do something that looks beyond their aching limbs.
90+1 min: Napoli look to drop a free-kick in the Chelsea box, though instead, Vergara, from a short one, cuts inside and tries to find Hojlund on the back post.
90 min: Gittens, the sub, is subbed, for Badiashile. Five minutes to be added on.
89 min: Some strut in the Chelsea team now while Napoli look woebegone. They’ve fallen short, all that energy in the first half could not be sustained.
88 min: Fofana is booked for smashing into McTominay. The on-pitch mics picked up the clatter of shin pads.
87 min: AS IT STANDS, Chelsea are sixth, and Napoli languish in 30th. Of the English teams, only Newcastle will not be in the top eight.
85 min: Napoli look gassed out. Chelsea, their fans now louder than ever, look full of confidence. Belief is draining for the home team.
84 min: Joao Pedro used Garnacho as a decoy and just as Lukaku comes on, what looks the felling blow is landed.
Goal! Napoli 2-3 Chelsea (Joao Pedro, 83)
What a goal – again – by Joao Pedro, played in – again – by Cole Palmer and – again – finished beautifully.
81 min: Garnacho, with his new face tattoo, is already on, and wandering offside. Lukaku makes his bow, too.
80 min: Romelu Lukaku, in many ways the great lost Chelsea player, is due to come on for Napoli. It never quite happened for him at the club where he had idolised Didier Drogba.
79 min: Napoli have run short of ideas, with Chelsea sitting deep Hojlund and Vergara have no space in which to make their incursions.
77 min: Di Lorenzo is coming back on, with a heavy limp, it looks like. What a soldier, though his influence had waned before he got hurt.
76 min: Di Lorenzo is in tears, this looks a nasty one, compounding all those injury problems for Napoli. This gives Chelsea time to regroup, and their players stage an on-pitch conference.
74 min: Fernandez has a shot for Chelsea but cannot get beyond a wall of Napoli defenders. Di Lorenzo, all action, has gone down, and it looks nasty, as if he rolled over his ankle.
73 min: Chelsea look far more comfortable in possession. Estevao is the player they want to get away but once he gets it, he is slow to release Joao Pedro.
71 min: Neither team look particularly full of flow at the moment. Garnacho is imminent for Chelsea.
69 min: Chelsea need another goal, it should be said. Though Napoli’s plight is deeper than theirs.
67 min: Napoli changes: Jesus off, Gutierrez on. Conte has only five outfield subs to choose from, of course. Though he could lump on one of his goalkeepers in a David James style.
65 min: Chelsea try to calm it down, just as their fans become audible for what feels like the first time this evening. They seem to still be at three at the back, too, with Chalobah adding his defensive ballast. Jeers as the away team hold the ball before Enzo Fernandez has a shot from distance.
64 min: AS IT STANDS: Chelsea 10th, Napoli 27th. Neither are where they’d like to be.
62 min: Barry Davies in 2002’s words will forever ring true. Napoli need to chase this now. Great finish by Joao Pedro, stunning, against the run of play but these things will happen.
Goal! Napoli 2-2 Chelsea (Joao Pedro, 61)
Wow, what a hit from the striker. Cole Palmer dabs it forward, lovely turn and whack!
59 min: Rosenior rolls the dice, with Gusto and Andrey Santos going off, Gittens on, and so is Chalobah. Four at the back, who knew?
