Andy Murray is set to be honoured with a statue at Wimbledon in 2027.
In two yearsâ time the All-England Club will celebrate its 150th anniversary and Britainâs best player in the Open Era is set to be acknowledged in a very special way.
Murray won two singles titles at Wimbledon throughout his career and he became the first man from Britain in 77 years to lift the trophy.
He will join his friend and former rival Rafael Nadal on the list of players who have had their own statue built, further illustrating the success he achieved in his career.

Nick Kyrgios thinks Andy Murray is a âtop fiveâ player of all time
For over a decade Murray shared the top four ranking positions with Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
The quartet pushed each other to their limits and raised the standard of menâs tennis as they won a plethora of titles.
Reflecting on the news, Nick Kyrgios thinks Wimbledonâs decision to honour Murray is well deserved, and he also says where he would rank the 2012 US Open winner among the greatest of all time.
âI definitely agree that Andy Murray deserves a statue. I think what heâs done for British tennis is amazing, Literally everyone looks up to him,â the Australian said.
âI look up to him. I think heâs been such a great role model in tennis and, for me, he is in the top five of all time.â I just hope they get the statue right.
âEvery time someone gets a statue, itâs a bit iffy if they look like a player. I hope they get Murray right, because heâs got a very unique kind of look.â

Nick Kyrgios says Lleyton Hewitt deserves a statue
Kyrgios praised the statue that is set to be built for Murray at Wimbledon, but he did not stop there.
He also named a player that he thinks should have a statue built in their honour, and it is his fellow Australian, Lleyton Hewitt.
âWho else deserves it? I think Lleyton Hewitt probably deserves one in Australia, around the Australian Open,â Kyrgios said. âWeâll see if that ever comes to light.â
Hewitt ended his career as one of Australiaâs greatest players. He won two Grand Slams and also became the world number one.
Hewitt won 30 ATP titles overall and he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2021.
