Pittsburgh and Jacksonville move one game up at the top of the AFC North and South respectively while the Bills pull of an epic comeback over the Bengals. I need short break but we will be cooking again with these late games soon enough!
SACK! Pittsburgh WIN!
The Steelers take back control of the AFC North with a 27-22 win over the Ravens. An epic victory on enemy soil for Mike Tomlin’s side. The Ravens thought they had the lead on the previous drive but it was snatched from them and Pittsburgh’s defense rose up to stop them doing so again.
Ravens 22-27 Steelers 0:09, 4th quarter
A Ravens fan cannot look as Jackson drops back but finds Mark Andrews for nine yards.
Ravens 22-27 Steelers 0:16, 4th quarter
Jackson drops back and hits Charlie Kolar with a awesome throw for 19 yards. Pittsburgh take the timeout to cool off. The Ravens are in striking distance now with only 39 yards remaining. Top spot of the AFC North is on the line.
Ravens 22-27 Steelers 0:31, 4th quarter
1st down! The Ravens survive after a short pass to Likely. Lamar spikes the ball. They still have 58 yards to travel.
Ravens 22-27 Steelers 0:47, 4th quarter
Baltimore take a timeout. Lamar Jackson runs them close to the sticks but they still have two yards to go on 4th down.
Jaguars top the AFC South
Jaguars 36-19 Colts, final score
Jacksonville sit top of the standings now with Indy staring down the barrel as Daniel Jones exited with a leg injury. The Jags are 9-4 and Colts are 8-5.
Jets 10-34 Dolphins, Buccaneers 20-24 Saints, final scores
Couple more in the books. Classic Tampa Bay to drop what should have been a straightforward win at home while Miami keep their playoff hopes alive for another week. The Bucs drop back to level with the Panthers on 7-6 in the NFC South.
Ravens 22-27 Steelers 2:08, 4th quarter
Pittsburgh are punting after going three and out. Maybe they aren’t as close to the W as I thought. The return puts Baltimore on their own 43-yard line. Loads of time left for Lamar Jackson to still win this one.
Ravens 27-22 Steelers 2:17, 4th quarter
Pittsburgh are on the verge of a MASSIVE win after the Ravens turn it over on downs. They need a couple of first downs first. Baltimore meanwhile thought they had taken the lead but a touchdown from Likely was ruled out as incomplete pass by the referees. High drama as the ref’s microphone wasn’t working to top it off.
Buffalo win! Bills 39-34 Bengals
That final quarter just exploded. A run of three Buffalo touchdowns with two Burrow interceptions then a fightback score from Burrow to give Cinci a chance. It wasn’t to be but wow. What a game.
Falcons 9-37 Seahawks, final score
Seattle make sure they keep pace at the top of the NFC with a beatdown of Atlanta so they are in first place for a few hours at least with a 10-3 record. Sam Darnold caught fire in the second half throwing three touchdowns.
TOUCHDOWN! Bills 39-34 Bengals 2:13, 4th quarter
This is getting ridiculous. Aren’t snow games supposed to be low scoring? Joe Burrow keeps on trucking after throwing two picks with a 25-yard strike to Tee Higgins. The Bengals are not done yet.
Next games up
We are staying open through for the later trio, up next a couple of heavyweights looking to keep marching to the postseason and an absolutely huge matchup in the NFC North:
(2-10) Las Vegas Raiders v Denver Broncos (10-2)
(3-9) Arizona Cardinals v Los Angeles Rams (9-3)
(8-3-1) Green Bay Packers v Chicago Bears (9-3)
TOUCHDOWN! Bills 39-28 Bengals 3:09, 4th quarter
Buffalo think they have a touchdown but Dawson Knox juggles the catch out of the side of the endzone. It brings up 4th and Goal with three yards remaining. They roll the dice. Josh Allen drops back and hits a wide-open Jackson Hawes for the score. “No pass rush whatsoever,” says Greg Olsen. Nope, none. So easy for Buffalo. The Bengals have completely imploded, they were 28-18 ahead and after conceding three touchdowns in succession they now trail 39-28.
Vikings 31-0 Commanders, full time
In all the drama in Buffalo I had to wait to report Minnesota’s thrashing of Washington. Horrible day for the Commanders who lost Jayden Daniels again with an injury after a nasty hit on the quarterback.
It’s GOOD! Ravens 22-27 Steelers 4:09, 4th quarter
Tyler Loop moves Baltimore to four points behind Pittsburgh with a 36-yard field goal.
Bills 32-28 Bengals 5:03, 4th quarter
One. Play. Later. BURROW IS PICKED AGAIN! The Bengals are in complete free fall out of thin air. Burrow’s pass is batted at the line and AJ Epenesa is on hand to pick him off. I can’t keep up!
PICK SIX! Bills 32-28 Bengals 5:25, 4th quarter
Chrisitan Benford runs back a 65-yard pick to give Buffalo a stunning lead. Joe Burrow attempts a short, floated pass but Benford leaps and makes the easiest of interceptions and races it back for the touchdown. Absolutely crackers, another huge turnover. This might just be the game of the season.
TOUCHDOWN! Buccaneers 17-24 Saints 8:26, 4th quarter
Saints quarterback doubles up with his second rushing touchdown on the day, this time from 13 yards.
TOUCHDOWN! Falcons 9-37 Seahawks 8:28, 4th quarter
Seattle score … again. And again this was 6-6 at half-time! The thrashing gets ever more painful for Atlanta after a four-yard strike from Sam Darnold to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
TOUCHDOWN! Bills 25-28 Bengals 7:33, 4th quarter
Josh Allen gets his snow plow out and drives through the wide open lane in the middle of the field for a 40-yard touchdown run. He scanned the field and couldn’t believe how much room had opened up. The Bengals had absolutely no chance of stopping him once those legs got churning. Instant reply from the Bills, what an epic!!
TOUCHDOWN! Browns 17-21 Titans 0:51, 3rd quarter
Tennessee capitalise on a Sanders pick with a 32-yard touchdown run from Tony Pollard. The running back is having a huge game with 152 yards on 17 carries and two scores.
TOUCHDOWN! Bills 18-28 Bengals 8:44, 4th quarter
“Let’s go baby!” Mike Gesicki giggles like an excited schoolboy as he scores his first touchdown of the season with a 12-yard pass from Joe Burrow. That James Cook fumble is looking even more costly now.
TOUCHDOWN! Falcons 9-30 Seahawks 12:13, 4th quarter
Sam Darnold hits veteran receiver the triple crown champion Cooper Kupp for an 11-yard score. This was 6-6 at half-time. Seattle have burst into life with Darnold on fire. The quarterback is 17/26 for 215 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Fourth-quarter scores
As the clocks tick down here is where we stand with 15 minutes remaining (give or take):
Atlanta Falcons 6-23 Seattle Seahawks
Baltimore Ravens 16-27 Pittsburgh Steelers
Buffalo Bills 18-21 Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns 17-14 Tennessee Titans
Jacksonville Jaguars 28-13 Indianapolis Colts
Minnesota Vikings 31-0 Washington Commanders
New York Jets 7-24 Miami Dolphins
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-14 New Orleans Saints
TOUCHDOWN! Pittsburgh go up two scores with short pass that Jaylen Warren races into the endzone for a 38-yard score. Steelers in the driving seat.
FUMBLE! Bills 18-21 Bengals 0:51, 3rd quarter
James Cook, what are you doing?! After fumbling once on the goalline and getting away with it … he does it again! The running back has the ball smashed out of his paw but he has it awkwardly pressed in his lap with it never looking secure. The snow must be making grip very difficult.
TOUCHDOWN! Ravens 20-16 Steelers 7:35, 3rd quarter
Isaiah Likely catches a four-yard touchdown from Lamar Jackson to draw the Ravens within one score.
TOUCHDOWN! Buccaneers 17-14 Saints 7:47, 3rd quarter
Sean Tucker tucks and runs for the one-yard score to give the Bucs the lead back.
Bills 18-21 Bengals 3:57, 3rd quarter
Relief for the Bills as the touchdown, chalked off for a holding penalty, is not ruled a touchback after Cook fumbles it out of bounds rather than through the endzone. Amazing play by the defender to knock it out just in time. Buffalo are 2nd & 9 on Cinci’s 25-yard line.
Bills 18-21 Bengals 3:57, 3rd quarter
Touchdown is chalked off for the Bills after a holding call. James Cook dives into the end zone but it will come back after the penalty but .. wait … this could be a touchback to boot. It is all happening, the ball comes out of Cook’s hand as he dives over and Cinci have thrown the challenge flag. If they are correct then this will be a touchback. Drama!
TOUCHDOWN! Buccaneers 10-14 Saints 11:21, 3rd quarter
Quarterback Tyler Shough puts the game on his shoulders and runs one in for a 34-yard touchdown. New Orleans have the lead with Baker Mayfield struggling since he threw a TD on the opening drive.
TOUCHDOWN! Falcons 6-20 Seahawks 6:11, 3rd quarter
Sam Darnold finds Jaxon Smith-Njigba with a 28-yard strike to put Seattle in complete control. They are marching on at the top of the NFC.
Bills 18-21 Bengals 8:19, 3rd quarter
The Bills force a Bengals punt and takeover on offense around their own 30-yard line. Tough to see in the snow. Buffalo have a chance to take the lead for the first time.
Hang it in the Louvre …
TOUCHDOWN! Bills 18-21 Bengals 9:20, 3rd quarter
Cometh the hour, cometh the big man! James Cook sets Buffalo up inside the 10-yard line with a long run and Allen finishes it off with a strike to tight end Dalton Kincaid. A five-yard fastball draws Buffalo within three points. This is getting spicy.
It’s GOOD! Vikings 17-0 Commanders 7:01, 3rd quarter
Minnesota boot a field goal but the bigger news is Jayden Daniels just took a massive hit. Marcus Mariota is warming up. Hopefully Daniels isn’t hurt too badly as he has just returned from a long layoff.
TOUCHDOWN! Jaguars 28-10 Colts 0:07, 2nd quarter
Trevor Lawrence finds Tim Patrick for an eight-yard score. The QB rolls out to his left beautifully to extend the play and throws a bullet to the big man.
TOUCHDOWN! Falcons 6-13 Seahawks 14:51, 3rd quarter
Hold on to your hats. Rashid Shaheed runs back a kickoff return for a stunning 100-YARD TOUCHDOWN. The speedster takes it the length of the field. He finds the hole in the hearts of the defense and strikes. Unbelievable
TOUCHDOWN! Ravens 9-17 Steelers 0:16, 2nd quarter
Lamar Jackson takes one in for his first rushing touchdown in eight starts. How has he not scored one on the ground since week one?! The Ravens won’t care as he moves them within one score with the six-yard dash. Shame about Tyler Loop missing the extra point. That could be decisive down the stretch.
With the Bills and Bengals in for a break, here is a look at Chase Brown’s grab for the Bengals’ third touchdown. He had a defender all over him and caught it so close to the ground but held on.
Half-time (ish)
Atlanta Falcons 6-6 Seattle Seahawks
Baltimore Ravens 3-17 Pittsburgh Steelers
Buffalo Bills 11-21 Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns 17-14 Tennessee Titans
Jacksonville Jaguars 21-10 Indianapolis Colts
Minnesota Vikings 14-0 Washington Commanders
New York Jets 7-24 Miami Dolphins
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10-7 New Orleans Saints
We have a few still in play before the half but Minnesota and Washington are already out for the second half so this is how we stand. Tough return to action for Jayden Daniels so far with the Commanders. Last season’s wünderkind is 8/16 for 67 yards with no TDs and no picks.
TOUCHDOWN! Browns 17-14 Titans 2:47, 2nd quarter
Jerry Jeudy catches an absolute monster throw from Sanders for the 60-yard score. Cleveland take the lead.
Bills 11-21 Bengals, half-time
Boos are coming now as the Bills kneel on it for half-time. They might boo this too.
Bills 11-21 Bengals 0:23, 2nd quarter
On 3rd and forever Burrow directs traffic and throws it up high to Tee Higgins. The receiver has it but it slips off his fingertips. The snow is seriously coming down. The snow blowers will be out at half-time. Punt.
Bills 11-21 Bengals 0:33, 2nd quarter
SACK! Out of nowhere on the blindside Christian Benford drills Burrow for a nine-yard loss. Ouch.
Bills 11-21 Bengals 1:11, 2nd quarter
In all the drama in Baltimore I missed a turnover on downs after the Bills fail on 4th down. A throw from Burrow to Tanner Hudson moves the Bengals to midfield.
TOUCHDOWN! Ravens 3-17 Steelers 6:01, 2nd quarter
Oh, Baltimore. They convert a Pittsburgh field goal into a touchdown in one bone-headed play. The Ravens are done for unnecessary roughness on the boot and Kenny Gainwell runs it in on the very next play. Massive turn in the AFC North big one. The Ravens in a big hole.
Bills 21-11 Bengals 2:00, 2nd quarter
James Cooks smashes through the snow and puts the Bills on Cinci’s 45-yard line. Not too far to go for Josh Allen with more than enough clock to draw a little closer.
