The start of the US Open is only a few weeks away, with the tournament starting on August 24.
The tournament, which is the last Grand Slam on the calendar, has seen some esteemed names lift the trophy down the years. The likes of Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have won the title on multiple occasions, while some have upset the field to claim their first title, like Marin Cilic in 2014.
Last year’s singles champions were Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka, and they are both expected to return to Flushing Meadows to defend their titles.

However, there are a number of players hoping to claim the crown. Stalwarts like Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff are always a threat, while young stars such as Victoria Mboko and Mirra Andreeva could cause a shock.
One observer, an acclaimed tennis coach, has made his prediction for who will win the US Open Ladies Singles title.
Rick Macci predicts Iga Swiatek will win the US Open Ladies Singles title
Rick Macci is a well-respected tennis coach who is credited with the early development of Serena and Venus Williams while they were growing up in Compton, California.
Macci, who has also coached Maria Sharapova and Andy Roddick, believes Iga Swiatek will win the 2025 US Open Ladies Singles title.
Posting on X [Twitter], Macci said: “Was asked my pick for the OPEN. [Mirra] Andreeva is my WILDCARD because her best surface is HARD.

“But Iga mentally is in a different space and my pick to take first place.
“The Polisher punisher I feel is on a MISSION and Grand Slam number seven she is ready to go FISHIN.”
Swiatek will certainly be a threat at the US Open. The 24-year-old recently won her first Wimbledon title and she captured the US Open title in 2022.
The six-time major winner has been in red-hot form, despite her loss to Clara Tauson at the Canadian Open. She will take some stopping at Flushing Meadows.
