KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — National top women’s squash player S. Sivasangari secured her place in the quarterfinals of the Egyptian Open 2025 after defeating England’s Jasmine Hutton in Giza yesterday.

The world No. 8  overcame the 16th seed 3-1 (12-10, 7-11, 11-9, 11-5) in a 47-minute in the round of 16 battle.

Sivasangari will next face either Egypt’s Amina Orfi or Farida Mohamed in the last eight, with the quarterfinal tie scheduled for Wednesday (Sept 17), according to the Professional Squash Association (PSA) website.

For the record, Sivasangari is the only Malaysian representative left at the tournament following the exits of Rachel Arnold, Aira Azman and national men’s number one Ng Eain Yow, who were all eliminated in the second round. — Bernama
