Brewers manager Pat Murphy takes shot at ‘horseshit’ Yankees team after World Series win

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy was captured taking a shot at a “horseshit Yankees team” after he celebrated his team clinching the World Series on Wednesday night.

A video of Murphy talking to Jake Bauers emerged in which the manager tells the Brewers’ soon to be a free agent: “You’re going to be a rich fucker. Just remember when you were on that horseshit Yankees team and you guys were all playing for yourself? Just remember, say, ‘This is the way we used to do it.’”

Bauers played for the Yankees in 2023 before he was traded to the Brewers. The Yankees finished fourth in the AL East in 2023, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Bauers did little to help them, batting .202 with 12 home runs in 84 games that season. However, he has thrived at the Brewers: in the 2026 regular season he hit .266 with 26 home runs and an OPS of .874, all career bests. He was also named the National League Championship Series MVP as the Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers to reach the World Series for the first time since 1982.

Murphy also had another excellent season and is favorite to be named the NL Manager of the Year for a third season in a row.

Murphy is not the first person to joke about the Yankees in a World Series. When the Dodgers overwhelmed the Yankees in the 2024 edition, Los Angeles veteran Joe Kelly said New York were “sloppy” and “can’t make a play”, while his teammate Miguel Rojas called out their “lazy” defense.
