Novak Djokovic has revealed the security worries held by the French Open immediately after his match earlier this week.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion faced Filip Misolic on Philippe Chatrier, selected as the showpiece match for the prime time slot.
However, in doing so, they denied him his plans to watch that night’s Champions League final between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
It seems that the latter’s success ended up causing more trouble than anything, as Djokovic revealed how the result curtailed his night.
Novak Djokovic reveals security worries at Roland Garros
Speaking live in the TNT Sports studio, the Serbian revealed how Saturday night’s Champions League triumph almost led to him sleeping in a different hotel.
After all, with the chaos ensuing on the streets, the head of security actually feared for their ability to navigate through the French capital.
Novak Djokovic revealed: ’Yeah I did [manage to watch the highlights]. There was quite a debate in the locker room with the chief of security about whether we should go to the hotel.

‘At one point they were actually discussing about whether we should stay in one of the rooms in the hotel somewhere around Roland Garros, because where we are staying is quite close to the Arc de Triomphe and it was… quite a scene.
‘There was a lot of trouble on the streets, we barely made it to the hotel around 1 am. It was quite an adventure I must say, but in the end, we were good.’
Djokovic plays Cam Norrie at Roland Garros tomorrow for a spot in the quarter-final.
Novak Djokovic is a surprise threat for the Roland Garros title
It’s very rare when Djokovic goes into any match as the underdog, but across the last 12 months, that has become commonplace.
After all, the 38-year-old has struggled to put together a meaningful run of form other than in brief patches, such as his Wimbledon showing where he stormed to the final, or when he finally claimed Olympic gold in August.
Early exits have become shockingly commonplace for Djokovic, especially in 2025 after a solid start in Melbourne.

So, his decision to play Geneva made perfect sense, seeking to finally enjoy a string of wins. Winning the tournament was likely not high on his agenda, but sometimes greatness just seeps through without him even having to try.
Now, set to play his fourth-round match at the French Open having yet to drop a set, Djokovic has somehow turned himself into a contender for a major honour once again. It will be interesting to see whether he can make good on this newfound hope.
